This specially designed tallit is made of wool with traditional black stripes. It is used on Simchat Torah
when the children gather together for a special aliyah, when they are called
up to have a bracha, a blessing on the Torah. It is called Kol HaNe'arim, meaning
all the children. In many congregations, a large talit is spread out
over the heads of all the children as the blessing over the Torah is
pronounced. The congregation then blesses
the children by reciting a verse from Jacob's blessing to Ephraim and Manasseh.
